Is Brain Space a daycare?
Brain Space is an academic enrichment program rather than a child care facility. Our sessions are structured and supervised, much like a martial arts or ballet studio. While your child is with us, they're in a safe and engaging environment. In real life, many parents use this time to recharge—grabbing coffee, running errands, or catching up on things—knowing their child is in good hands.
Guardians should be reachable and reasonably nearby, as they remain legally responsible for their children during sessions. Brain Space is not responsible for custodial care. As all sessions have a duration of less than four hours, Brain Space does not claim to provide childcare services, according the legal definition of childcare.
So it's a tutoring center?
Not quite. Brain Space is built for the busy modern family, so it's designed as a flexible, group-based learning ecosystem rather than a time-locked private session. Students working on 1st-5th grade content are welcome to attend any group session. The mixed-age classroom model prioritizes both academic mastery and student autonomy.
What do students do all afternoon?
They work on the academic, executive functioning, and emotional tasks that matter most—guided by our tutors. No take-home stress for you. In the intake consultation, you’ll work directly with our Lead Tutor to create a personalized plan to best suit your student's needs, whether that's catching up on homework, building social skills, or getting to the next level with a challenging project.
Do you charge the same rate for holiday months, like traditional daycare programs?
No – our model is designed to be fair to parents. Three-week months with Thanksgiving or Winter Break (November and December) are charged at 25% less than standard four-week months. This is intentional, to make sure you aren’t ever paying for weeks that we’re closed for extended holiday breaks.
(To learn more about our rates, check out the pricing table in How It Works.)
When does the billing cycle renew?
Invoices are automatically sent on the 21st of every month. Credits expire at the end of each billing cycle, which can be seen in the Billing Cycle Calendar. Each month has 20 days for you to schedule sessions, with the exception of November and December. November and December each have three weeks of sessions available.
What happens if we're late?
We don’t penalize late arrivals or early departures for regular group sessions. It’s your time—use it as you need.
In the rare instances that we schedule a “Check-In Window,” parents will be notified in advance. These may be intentionally scheduled if Brain Space plans a specific lesson or activity that is time-sensitive in nature. (For example, a "Check-In Window” of 2:30-3:30 PM prohibits check-ins after 3:30 PM.) Implementation of this policy is at the discretion of the Lead Tutor.
What happens if we miss a session?
Cancel anytime up to 2 hours before any group session and automatically get that credit back. Book a makeup whenever it fits your schedule by visiting our convenient online portal.
Please note that all 1:1 sessions, private meetings, or individual appointments require notice of 24 hours.
